Join Labour President Nigel Haworth, Labour Leader Andrew Little, the NZ Council of the Labour Party and Labour Party MPs to celebrate this important anniversary in New Zealand's political history.
New Zealand’s oldest political party, Labour was founded at a meeting in Wellington on the 7th of July 1916, born out of a history of activism for workers' rights and democratic reform in New Zealand that began in the days of Samuel Parnell.
As part of the evening's celebrations a book, entitled Labour: The New Zealand Labour Party 1916-2016 by Peter Franks and Jim McAloon will be launched. Published by Victoria University Press, this history tells the Party’s full story, including New Zealand’s Labour governments, periods in opposition, and times of upheaval and conflict.
Refreshments will be provided.
Formalities to commence at 6.30 pm.
If you'd like to attend, please RSVP by Friday 1 July.
