Keeping Kiwis in Work

New Zealand is in a recession. With over 1000 Kiwis joining the dole queue every week and forecasts for 180,000 people to be out of work by the end of next year, job security and the economy are the top issues for New Zealanders at the moment.

The National Government inherited an economy in better shape than many others around the world and has had an opportunity to guide us through these very challenging times.

New Zealanders are still waiting for some leadership and a real plan from John Key’s government. Business as usual will no longer do. The Government needs to act urgently.

We need a plan to ensure the most vulnerable among us are protected. It’s about providing training to workers so they have an opportunity to gain employment elsewhere. It’s about extracting the greatest value out of every dollar of spent. It’s about investing in our future now through bringing back Labour’s R&D tax credits and the Fast Forward Fund which National scrapped. In short, it’s about keeping kiwis in work.
