Barry Kirker is a Clinical Psychologist concerned about continuing issues for individuals and families accessing Adult and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, as well as with Special Education services at schools. Barry, who has worked in mental health for 20 years and currently has a busy private psychology practice, sees the impact of the crisis in mental health on the people of Pakuranga first hand. He sees people across the electorate not getting the support they need due to a lack of vision by the National Government.
Barry is standing for Labour because he wants to see people who need health and specialist education services get them, as well as people having the security of owning their own home, and people working for wages they can live off. Barry wants all people to feel secure and have the opportunity to prosper. He is passionate about advocating for the people of Pakuranga who he sees as wanting a better future for New Zealand.
Barry wants to earn the trust of the people of Pakuranga by being a values-driven representative for them in parliament. People want a government with the bravery to take on the big issues and that's a Labour Government.
In his spare time Barry is involved in local sporting clubs including coaching his daughter’s football team.
