We live in a country spread across two tectonic plates and we experience frequent earthquakes. Yet New Zealand doesn't have a 24/7 staffed earthquake monitoring service.
After the quakes this week, RNZ has reported that the Government is now considering funding 24/7 staffing of GeoNet. So we need to make sure they come to the right decision.
Let's let them know we want a 24/7 service to respond to and analyse natural disasters. That'll mean we're as prepared as possible when the next large earthquake hits.
