The Green Party’s housing package is a welcome complement to Labour’s plan to fix the housing crisis, says Leader of the Opposition Andrew Little.
“It’s clear that, to get the affordable homes we need and save the Kiwi dream of homeownership, we need to change the government.
“The Greens’ rent to buy scheme complements Labour’s KiwiBuild policy to build 100,000 affordable homes for families to buy.
“Homeownership is at its lowest level in 65 years. It just makes sense for the government to step in and make sure people have a fair shot at owning a place of their own.
“Community housing bonds, like Labour’s plan for infrastructure bonds, give mum and dad investors a positive alternative for saving instead of housing speculation.
“The positive policies being offered by Labour and the Greens stand in stark contrast to National’s failure to fix the housing crisis,” says Mr Little.
