Hilary believes that the government of New Zealand should treasure its people just as much as it values economic output. She appreciates that our country’s financial prosperity and social well-being relies on every Kiwi contributing their unique gifts and talents.
Hilary is proud to stand for Labour because she knows the party’s policies around high-quality education, regional development, decent healthcare and housing are critical to enabling our individual and collective success.
Hilary initially studied economics and worked in strategy development and project delivery, but brings broad professional experience. She’s spent much of the last decade managing a not-for-private-profit early childhood centre, and is currently involved in local government and social service governance.
Hilary was born in Inglewood but has spent time living across the central North Island and in the USA, UK and China. While she relished her international experiences, she is proud to call provincial New Zealand home and looks forward to being a strong and hardworking advocate for her fellow New Zealanders.
She’s married and has four children – Ciara, Taine, Eliana and Mila.
