We're hearing too many stories of families living in cold, damp homes in the Hutt Valley. Too many stories of people struggling to buy their first home or finding it hard to access affordable rental housing and too many people who are unsure of Hutt City Council's role in social housing.
We need to change this — it's not acceptable that Kiwis are living in substandard housing.
The Labour MPs based in the Hutt Valley are holding a public meeting next Monday to hear from you about any challenges that you're facing and your concerns about housing in the Hutt.
The meeting will focus on four key issues: access to housing, the effects of living in cold damp homes, the high price and cost of homes and the council's role in social housing.
There'll be expert speakers to contribute to our discussion, but most importantly we want to hear from you.
