Kurt grew up in Helensville with his extended whānau/’aiga and feels a deep connection to the electorate. He comes from a family that has given great service to the community in education, in the military, in sport and in faith communities. His fundamental belief is that society should provide equal opportunity for its citizens to reach their full potential.
An affordable housing market, world-class education and a reliable, efficient health system are the basic elements that allow a country to flourish and Kurt intends to make sure that the Helensville electorate benefits in these areas under a Labour government. Relating to ordinary people’s concerns and advocating on their behalf is something that has motivated him to enter politics.
A sports lover and a former ESOL teacher, he currently volunteers for his former rugby league club and recognises the role that both physical education and academics play in creating well-rounded New Zealanders. Kurt stood for local body elections in Auckland last year, in which he stood for the health benefits of increased investment in walking and cycling infrastructure.
Kurt has a Bachelor of Arts in French. He is currently studying his Master’s in Global Business and is committed to help New Zealand companies and products thrive.
