"Church Honours Prime Minister with Genealogy Record"

New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark will be gifted with a detailed book on her family genealogy today by New Zealand-based leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The presentation will take place at the Church's Robertson Road Chapel in Mangere, Manukau City, about 1.30pm.

In November 2007, the Prime Minister spoke to the church's youth and young adults in Manukau at the invitation of its church leaders.  She spoke on the importance of education and following their dreams.

At the church meeting, she shared with the audience her own family milestones such as the being the first to attend university and encouraged the mostly Pacific young audience to be trailblazers in their families.

It was during this meeting that Elder Condie, the New Zealand area leader of the Church, said that he would commission the Prime Minister's genealogy to be documented as a gift.

Background Note:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the world's largest collection of genealogical information. In 1894, the Church founded the Genealogical Society of Utah to gather records that help people trace their ancestry.

Ends.
