Hon Annette King to visit Waitakere

Hon Annette King is doing a whirlwind tour of Waitakere on Wednesday 8 October to check out many of the community initiatives relating to safety and security in Waitakere City.
First up is a meeting with the Police, Safe Waitakere, the Maori and Pacific Wardens and Neighbourhood Support representatives.
This will be followed by a tour of the brand new Youth Facility - Global Café - and a 'walkabout' in Glenmall in Glen Eden.

Key axes new homes

National leader John Key has confirmed that housing will be another area of government spending to suffer in order to fund his reckless programme of additional tax cuts, said Housing Minister Maryan Street today.
Mr Key told a public meeting in Hobsonville last night that he will axe plans by the government to build social housing on the Crown land development.

Strategic change and funding boost for cardiac surgery

Minister of Health David Cunliffe today announced details of a multi-million dollar plan to lift New Zealand's cardiac surgery rate by at least 25 percent over four-years, as apart of a major strategic review of nationwide cardiac service delivery.
The funding and support package agreed to by Government responds to the clinically led Cardiac Surgery Service Development Working Group Report.
