Protect our children's education

If National introduce their ‘global budgets’ plan, principals will have to make impossible choices. They’ll be forced to choose between covering rising operational costs or employing enough teachers.

And if they don’t want to increase class sizes, they’ll have to increase the ‘voluntary donations’ they request from parents.

Increasing class sizes will be bad for our children’s education. It means each child will get less time with their teachers and lead to more disruptive classrooms.

When National tried to increase class sizes in 2012, parents and the public spoke up, forcing them to back down. If enough of us speak out now, we can make sure they don’t make another decision that will affect our kids’ education.

Will you sign the petition against National’s funding plan that increase class sizes and ‘voluntary donations’?

To Hekia Parata and Cabinet:

Kiwi kids deserve the best education. Please don’t bring back bulk funding – it will increase our children’s class sizes and put pressure on parents to pay more in donations.
