Celebrating Pakistan’s 61 years of Independence

Pakistanis will be celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day on 14 August 2008 with a renewed pledge to make the country a strong, progressive and prosperous Islamic welfare state. The day will dawn with the booming of a 31-gun salute in the federal capital, Islamabad and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be held for the country's progress, strength and solidarity
