Government announcements to be made in Otaki electorate
19.06.2008
Otaki MP Darren Hughes is pleased that his electorate will play host to a number of upcoming government announcements over the next two months.
Mr Hughes, Associate Minister for Social Development and Employment, will announce the recipients of the Youth Development Partnership Fund, launch the Ministry of Social Development's Central Regional Plan and launch an updated handbook for General Practitioners who are working with Sickness and Invalids' Beneficiaries.
The first of these announcements will take place tomorrow afternoon at 3pm at the Horowhenua District Council Chambers when Mr Hughes will announce the successful recipients from the Southern North Island who have been granted funding through the Ministry of Youth Development's Youth Development Partnership Fund.
Mr Hughes will then launch the Central Regional plan on 17th July at 2.30pm at the Horowhenua District Council Chambers. Local mayors and the Ministry of Social Development's Regional Commissioner, Penny Rounthwaite, will attend. This plan covers the districts of Kapiti, Horowhenua, Palmerston North, Manawatu and Tararua.
In July, Mr Hughes will launch the General Practitioners' handbook at Horowhenua Health Centre. This is a major initiative in the efforts to continue placing Sickness and Invalids' beneficiaries back into work.
