New Lynn MP speaks at the opening of the new complex
It is a pleasure to be a part of these festivities this afternoon and join in the opening of this wonderful new complex.
To complete a project like this one is a long process from its initial conception through to its completion. But as you will know, standing here today in these peaceful surroundings, it’s a rewarding one and reminds me of the words of Buddha himself; “An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.”
These are not just buildings, they will serve as a place of learning and support and provide a positive hub for the Sri Lankan Buddhist community and other cultures to come together.
I visited this centre some time ago, and despite being here today in this new complex, what strikes me is the overwhelming sense of purpose and place this centre holds within the community.
As you say, this complex has been constructed with the objective of serving the wider community. And this is indeed a generous gesture.
I congratulate you on this achievement and wish you every success for the future.
I am certain I will visit you many more times in the years to come and look forward to watching this complex develop and grow with the support of both the Buddhist and wider Auckland communities.
Thank you
