Labour MP's Hon George and Dr Ashraf Coudhary, met with the Commissioner of Police, Howard Broad and the Counties Manukau Superintendent Steve Shorthand today in Wellington.   The meeting followed on from the death of Saishwar Krishna Naidu in a Clendon dairy in January.

"The Police Crime Prevention Sergeant for Counties Manukau area will be meeting with dairy owners to look at how the dairies can be made safer.   On top of that the Police will arrange a visit for the dairy owners of Manurewa to visit the Police's Northern Communication Centre so they can see how incidents are dealt with and give them greater understanding to enable them to provide information to the Police, said George Hawkins.

Dr Choudhary said he was pleased that the Police are going to have an open day at the Manurewa Police Station so that the public at large can gain an insight into how their district is policed.    This is a good opportunity for Manurewa people to get a good perspective on policing operations in Manurewa.   The Police will announce a date shortly, said Dr Choudhary.

The MPs said that following a meeting with the Indian community following Saishwar Krishna Naidu's death that they have been working to ensure that crime in the area goes down.   They said that overall crime was dropping in Manurewa because of some very good policing is being done.   It's especially pleasing that the Police Commissioner Howard Broad will follow up the MPs concerns by visiting Manurewa in 3 months time to see what progress is being made.   The Commissioner of Police Howard Broad personal interest in the Counties Manukau area is welcomed, they said."
