MP for Christchurch East, Minister of Commerce, Associate Minister of Justice, Minister for Food Safety

Lianne Dalziel was elected to Parliament in 1990 and served two terms as MP for Christchurch Central, one term as a Labour List MP and is into her third term as MP for Christchurch East.

Lianne has a law degree from Canterbury University and a background in the union movement before entering Parliament. Lianne served in Cabinet between 1999 and 2004, holding a range of portfolios including Immigration, Commerce and Senior Citizens and associate portfolios in Education and Justice.

From 2005 general election until November 2007 Lianne held the Commerce, Small Business and Women’s Affairs portfolios. Her current portfolios are Commerce, Food Safety and Associate Justice.
