District nursing services remain with DHB
11.06.2008
Mana MP Luamanuvao Winnie Laban has welcomed confirmation that the provision of district nursing services will remain with the Capital & Coast DHB.
Mana MP Luamanuvao Winnie Laban met with Capital & Coast District Health Board (DHB) Chief Executive Ken Whelan today, and has welcomed his confirmation that the provision of district nursing services will remain with the DHB.
Following public consultation last year on the options for providing these vital services, the Capital & Coast District Health Board have now confirmed that they will not privatise their district nursing.
"In speaking with Ken Whelan today I sought - and received - his absolute assurance that the provision of these district nursing services will remain in-house.
“This is news which our local community will welcome, as the services provided by our district nurses are vital to our community.
“I am extremely pleased with the Board's decision, as it is important that the provider of district health services knows our community and is able to provide local residents with the best standard of care to meet their health needs," Laban said.
