National's ECE policy a giant step backwards

Lynne Pillay, MP for Waitakere, said that she was appalled by the announcement of National’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Policy.

National's plan included the removal of the word ‘free' from the 20 hours free Early Childhood Education Policy instituted by the Labour government last year, and the rejection of the agreed goal of 100 per cent trained and registered teachers for children under two years of age.

Rebates waiting for a ratepayer home

West Auckland people have until the end of June to apply for a rates rebate of up to $500.

Lynne Pillay, MP for Waitakere, says people need to make applications before 30 June to be considered for a rates rebate for the 2007/08 rating year.

The Family Courts Matters Bill is an omnibus bill that extends the openness of the Family Courts, introduces non-judicial mediation, makes a number of other useful improvements, and tidies up legislation designed to improve processes and procedures in the Family Courts.
