Mark Gosche's biography
Maungakiekie
MP for Maungakiekie
- Entered Parliament as a Labour List Member of Parliament based in the Maungakiekie electorate 1996.
- Elected as MP for Maungakiekie in 1999 and again in 2002.
- Minister of Housing 1999-2003 Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation 1999-2003 Minister of Pacific Island Affairs 1999-2003
- Minister of Corrections 2002-2003
- Minister of Racing 2002-2003.
- Currently chairs the Labour Auckland Caucus.
- Union involvement for 22 years. Full-time official for 15 years with the Hotel, Hospital & Restaurant Workers Union (now the Service & Food Workers Union). Founder director of Union Health Centres (low cost medical centres) and trustee of Union Law Centre. National Executive member of NZ Council of Trade Unions (NZCTU). Past member of NZ Tourism Council & Trade Union Education Authority.
- Member of the Labour Party since 1981.
- NZ born Samoan, raised and educated in South Auckland.
- Married with 3 adult children and 1 grandson
- Interests: music, sport (particularly rugby league) and reading.
