Older workers to benefit from ACC law change

Injured New Zealanders who are over 65 and want to return to the workforce will have better access to vocational rehabilitation under a law change which comes into effect today, says ACC Minister Maryan Street.

This follows changes made to the Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2001 earlier this year which extended or improved ACC cover on a number of fronts - most of which are already in force.

Consultation planned for ambulance priorities

The question of the priority the public believes should be given to appropriate ambulance crew levels, against other measures which may improve services, will be publicly consulted on.

The Health Minister David Cunliffe and ACC Minister Maryan Street's announcement came today when releasing the government's formal response to the Health Select Committee Inquiry into the Provision of Ambulance Services in New Zealand.

Richmond Health Centre wins Home Safety competition

Nelson-Bays GPs deserve congratulating for supporting this year's Safety NZ Week and the colourful and informative home safety displays in their practices, says ACC Minister Maryan Street.

The region's medical practices were encouraged to put up displays promoting the 'Safety Begins at Home' message for Safety NZ Week, which ran last week. Each practice could then have their display judged as part of a competition.
