Finance sector consumer complainants get redress

Consumers who have been unable to resolve a complaint with their financial adviser or service provider will have access to an independent and free dispute resolution service under a Bill passed in Parliament today.

Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel and Consumer Affairs Minister Judith Tizard welcomed the passage of the Financial Service Provider (Registration and Dispute Resolution) Bill which is part of a suite of reforms of the finance industry.

Financial advisers and dispute resolutions bills back

Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel and Consumer Affairs Minister Judith Tizard today welcomed the select committee report back of two bills that will beef up regulation of financial advisers and institutions, ensuring greater accountability of advisers and providing consumers with effective avenues for complaints.

Lianne Dalziel supported the recommendations made to the Financial Advisers Bill in the Finance and Expenditure Committee's report back to Parliament.

Minister welcomes BSA decision on formaldehyde episode

Consumer Affairs Minister Judith Tizard, welcomes the Broadcasting Standards Authority decision to uphold a complaint about an item aired by TV3's Target programme in August last year, alleging dangerous levels of formaldehyde in clothing.
