Economic growth focus for NZ development efforts

Prime Minister Helen Clark said today that building an environment conducive to economic growth in Pacific Island countries is a focus for New Zealand's development assistance programme in the region.

"Over the next seven years New Zealand, through NZAID, will spend over $2 billion in development assistance to the Pacific. The New Zealand Pacific Development Strategy launched recently sets the shape and direction for our assistance to the region.

New Counties Manukau campus will benefit Pacific people

Pacific Island Affairs Minister Luamanuvao Winnie Laban has welcomed the announcement of a new university campus for Counties Manukau, saying increased education and training opportunities will particularly benefit our Pacific communities.

Elizabeth Peivi Alice Lee-Lo Smith or Aunty Liz as she was known fondly by many in our Pacific communities was an inspirational leader who will be greatly missed, Pacific Island Affairs Minister and Mana MP Luamanuvao Winnie Laban said today.
