Would the real John Key please stand up?

Straying from a prepared speech, John Key has told one audience the he would abolish the Families Commission and when caught out today, changed his tune said Ruth Dyson, Minister for Social Development.

"What is perturbing for New Zealand is that Mr Key will tell a crowd of people what will get him a round of applause one day, and then change his position when facing a different audience," said Ruth Dyson.

"To appease Family First, Mr Key pretended he didn't want to vote for Sue Bradford's amendment to section 59. These contradictory statements underline a real problem with John Key and the National Party's credibility.

"The New Zealand public can only imagine what Mr Key really said to Lord Ashcroft or whether John Key is really willing to sell Kiwi Bank or Kiwi Rail. What would John Key really like to do to the lives of solo mums, the Superannuitants, those looking for work and families struggling to make ends meet?

"Only John Key can answer these questions, but my guess is, his answer will not be the truth.

"It is a matter of trust, and John Key does not seem to want to trust the New Zealand public with the truth," said Ruth Dyson.
