Don't veto PPL!

Sue Moroney's Paid Parental Leave Bill has passed its second-to-last stage in Parliament.

If it passes its next stage, it becomes law. That means parents would get eight more weeks to spend with their babies in those crucial first months.

But Bill English and John Key have said they’ll use special powers to veto the Bill even if the majority of MPs vote it through – going against the will of our democratically-elected Parliament and huge support from New Zealanders.

These veto powers are an extreme measure that have never been used to overrule the will of Parliament on an entire Bill.

But there’s still time to convince John Key and Bill English to change their mind on the veto.
