This year marks 100 years since the Labour Party was formed in New Zealand. To celebrate this in Palmerston North we are having a street party in the Savage Crescent Reserve.
The development was named after Michael Joseph Savage, the Prime Minister of the first Labour Government elected in 1935. Labour embarked on a nationwide state housing project once in office, and Savage Crescent was one of the first state housing developments in New Zealand, built between 1938 and 1945.
Join local residents, Labour Party supporters, MP Iain Lees-Galloway and Labour leader Andrew Little for an afternoon of entertainment, afternoon tea and good old fashioned fun. Come in 1940s dress, join in the history walk, enter the street quiz and enjoy the atmosphere.
Where: Savage Crescent Reserve Palmerston North
When: Saturday June 11th, 1pm-3pm
Wet weather venue: Deerstalkers' Hall 251 College St Palmerston North.
