Labour Deputy Leader to stand down

Michael Cullen said today that he is standing down as Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary New Zealand Labour Party.
"Helen Clark and I have worked very closely together leading the team over the last 12 years, particularly the last nine years in government. We are both proud of Labour's achievements in government.

Labour welcomes funding for Q Theatre

Prime Minister Helen Clark and Associate Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Judith Tizard today welcomed the grant of up to $6 million for Auckland's Q Theatre.
Clark said that the grant, from the Lottery Significant Projects Fund, will contribute to building the new $21 million theatre in central Auckland.
