We’re bringing back a tradition, the conference dinner!

Once conference breaks around 5:30 pm on Saturday, we will be serving drinks from an on-site cash bar and providing nibbles in the entrance hall while the dining room is being transformed for the evening’s events.  We recommend that you keep an eye out for beers from our exciting local breweries LADS brewery and Roots Brewery.

For those needing a little longer to prepare, the dining hall will be open from 6:30 pm, with our delicious buffet dinner prepared by one of our top local caterers Essence Catering from 7:00 pm.

  • Cajun Style Blackened Chicken with Tomato, Coriander and Lime
  • New Potatoes with Garlic Butter

How do I get to the conference venue?

The Whanganui War Memorial Conference Centre is a 9 minute drive from the Whanganui airport or an hour from Palmerston North.

The Party has arranged shuttles for Labour Party Conference delegates from Palmerston North airport to your accommodation in Whanganui on Thursday 28 November and Friday 29 November and return shuttles to Palmerston North Airport on Sunday 1 December.

Departures from Palmerston North airport will be arranged to coincide with flight times that are arriving close to each other - the intention is not to have delegates waiting for more than an hour once they have collected their luggage.

If you are driving to Whanganui, note that the War Memorial Conference Centre is just off State Highway 4. You need to cross the Whanganui City Bridge, turn right on Taupo Quay then turn left on Drews Avenue and following the road onto Watt Street and the venue will be on your right. There will be limited parking available on the venue's forecourt, so get in early!
