Māori are natural storytellers. On the marae we use stories to tell our history, to teach the next generation life lessons and to let people know, in our most creative of ways, who we are and where we have come from.

It's been a great week of progress: we've celebrated Children's Day, we've made communities safer with 1800 new police, and we've seen almost 90% of eligible schools take up Government funding to scrap school donations - taking pressure off the families of more than 416,000 students.

We began the week by commemorating the New Zealand Wars and celebrating a major increase in the number of teachers. Then, we were busy supporting offenders into work and getting our rail back on track after years of underinvestment. And that's just the start!

In October I was sworn in as the Mayor of Lower Hutt.

It’s the privilege of my life to serve Hutt people as their Mayor. There is something really special to be able to serve the community where I was raised, and where I live.  

This week, we’re taking action on climate change, expanding trades education – and celebrating two years of progress!

We're rebuilding our hospitals, protecting our oceans, and taking mental health seriously.

We want every New Zealander to be happy, safe, and healthy. To do this, we need to support strong, safe communities, and a robust and efficient health system.

We're managing the Government books responsibly, helping more Kiwis into homes, and supporting New Zealanders with disabilities.
