We know that when our rural communities do well, all of New Zealand benefits. Labour is committed to supporting our regions so that, together, we can achieve even more.

Here are just some of the ways we’re backing rural communities.

It’s Pride month, and as we celebrate our LGBTIA+ community, we’re taking the next steps towards a more inclusive Aotearoa. From investing in mental health services to banning harmful conversion therapy, we’re building a New Zealand where everyone can be safe, healthy and happy.

This week, Labour MPs headed north to take part in Waitangi events, and acknowledge Aotearoa’s shared history. Here’s a quick look at what our team got up to at Waitangi, and how we’re working together with Māori to build a better future for us all.

Zero emission buses, cleaner cars and environmentally-friendly biofuels will soon be hitting New Zealand’s roads, as the Government delivers on its election promise to make our transport network more sustainable.

Labour is building thousands of new state houses as part of our work to ensure every Kiwi has a warm, dry place to call home.

As we welcome in the new year, our focus is on continuing to keep New Zealanders safe and moving forward with our economic recovery. There’s a lot to get on with, but before we say a final goodbye to 2020, here’s a quick look back at some of the milestones we’ve achieved over the past year.

At the 2020 General Election, the New Zealand public gave Labour a strong mandate to govern alone - the first Party to achieve this under the MMP system in New Zealand.

This mandate also meant the introduction of a huge number of new MPs - 23 in total!

New Zealand has declared a climate emergency, committing to urgent action on reducing emissions.

This week we presented the audited Government accounts for the year to 30 June 2020. These always take a while to be audited and published. But this year, with all that's been happening they cover a time that seems long ago!
