I found myself in Papatoetoe North early Friday morning. It was cold, but the large red bus and the group of Labour activists, centred on Nanaia Mahuta and Arena Williams, warmed things up considerably.
I had just come to drop things off at the bus, but ended up joining the powhiri and the wonderful interaction after that. From the questions from the vibrant children there, I learned of the importance of our te reo policy, of how pressured that community and many whanau there really are - and what kind of chocolate Arena liked the most.
A little snapshot of campaigning for the party vote in a place neglected by National MPs for years, our messages delivered by our most senior Maori MP and by an up and coming new leader. Inspiring!
