Community must act on report on violence and Samoan women

A new report on violence and Samoan women, A malu i 'āiga, e malu fo'i i fafo ,has to be taken on board by the whole community, says Labour’s Associate Justice spokesperson Poto Williams.

“It’s important for Pacific communities to come up with culturally appropriate solutions.

“The report argues that education, talking about violence and Samoan culture all hold the keys to this problem.

“The challenge will be to implement this report and make a real change in the life of our families affected by domestic violence.

“I am committed to working with  churches and community groups on this report. I hope the Pacific communities take it to heart and act on it,” says Poto Williams.
