Meet Deborah Rhodes

Care of People is Good Business, Manaakitia ngā tāngata, kai tipu tē kaipakihi.


Deborah is a dairy farmer with a background in health, and her values are based on serving the common-good. With an ambition for knowledge, Deborah is undertaking research in health and safety that can action kinder, more equal, and responsible work relationships. The balance of farming activity, the NZ economy and climate change are challenges that she considers in her Master of Health. As a nurse, mother and business owner, Deborah understands the need for advocacy for the future, by promoting collaboration of government, academia, and civil society on climate action to reduce pressure which improves people’s lives. Deborah has a background in international pharmaceuticals and health screening, and her small-town upbringing and technical training education are all experiences that connect her with justice for others and the planet. Supporting the local rural school and rural women’s health are vital contributors to Deborah’s mission-orientated design of a responsible safe regenerating workforce.

Deborah and her husband Tim have three teenage youth, and they farm in Golden Bay.
