For me, the Government is the best place to create change so that everyone gets a fair chance, regardless of who their parents are, or how much money they have.

Helen White is honoured to be selected to represent Labour as its candidate for Mount Albert in 2023. She is a true local and sees great value in her deep commitment and connection to the area and its people. In the 34 years since she first came to live in the electorate, Helen has seen Mount Albert go from strength to strength. Its strong communities, small businesses and mix of people from many cultures and walks of life make the area special to her.

Helen recognises having affordable housing, reliable public transport and great public schools supports the growth of inclusive, happy and creative communities. She sees her job as advocating for an electorate where families, businesses, workers, seniors and young people can thrive.

Before entering Parliament in 2020, Helen was a barrister with over 25 years’ experience in employment law and has become a leading voice in advocating for workers’ rights. She believes employment is fundamental, as it allows people freedom, choice and to contribute to their community. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, walking her dachshund Shiloh and spending time with her three children.
