6 Times John Key Lied This Week
This week has been a rough one in Parliament — with John Key making almost everything to do with the Christmas Island detainees up. Check out the wrap up here.
1. John Key: ‘Labour wants to fly the Christmas Island detainees back to NZ’. Uhhh, no. Labour’s position has always been they should be allowed to stay in Australia. Key is the one who has said they “should come home”
2. Key: ‘They’re rapists and murderers’ Well actually: None of the New Zealand detainees on Christmas island are rapists or murderers.
Elsewhere, Key has said he can do all he can to help them.
3. John Key: “The question I was asked was about broader detainees.”
Reality: Andrew Little’s questions were specifically about Christmas Island
4. Key: “I've never been asked to apologise in this particular case”
Hmmm? A series of MPs, themselves victims of sexual assault, asked him to apologise.
5. JK: ‘I’m making sure New Zealanders are protected’
But, No public protection orders or other measures have been issued with regard to returned detainees.
6. “I'm actually the person standing up for victims of crime”
Reality: Under Key the number of unsolved sex crimes has doubled

It is also worth nothing two things; Mr Key is responsible for the closure of Christchurch’s only rape crisis centre. So his comments so offensive are magnified big time knowing that…And we have heard of the story of Keys ex bodyguard- A decorated soldier being held on suspicion. No convictions is either NZ or Australia, simply a connection to a motorcycle club, which in itself is not illegal. Key is aware of this, but will do nothing. He states he doesn’t have the facts about the individual case; …then GET THEM Mr Key. As PM, as part of the UN, you have a duty to find out. You have an obligation to find out why Kiwis are being detained. It is you job to know the facts, not just make them up for political points.
