Dunedin stands in solidarity with Hillside

Hillside’s engineering work may have ended but Dunedin’s solidarity with the former workers reveals a community united in its support, says Labour’s Dunedin South MP Clare Curran.

“Today we marked the end of 130 years of Hillside engineering. The spirit of the community is strong and we are determined to keep Hillside alive.

“Manufacturing is being gutted under National and Hillside is the clearest example of that decline. New Zealand communities across the country have had to support workers who lost their jobs too often this year.

“Labour stands in support of the Hillside workers and the community on this immensely sad day.”
