Meet Anae Neru Leavasa

Our children and families are important. I want them to feel safe and have the freedom and opportunity to thrive.

Dr Anae Neru Leavasa is a passionate, hardworking advocate and has served as the inaugural MP for Takanini. He has lived in South Auckland for over 30 years. He is married and has two young children.

After surviving metastatic bone cancer, Dr Anae was inspired to train as a Specialist GP to provide support to his community. He graduated from the University of Auckland Medical School and became a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Dr Anae is a keen humanitarian, having been posted on two assignments in the Pacific with both the Red Cross and a doctors worldwide volunteer organisation. He has also served in rural farming communities as a GP.

He is a small business owner and has served as a local board member before entering parliament in 2020. He continues to be a strong advocate for Takanini and the needs of the community.
