Oscar SimsCandidate for Auckland Central
Meet Oscar Sims
I want to build a fairer and more innovative society, and that starts with local representation in a Labour government in the heart of our largest city.
Oscar Sims is a software engineer and proud resident of Auckland’s City Centre. He previously lived in Ponsonby, has family connections to Waiheke Island, and is an Engineering alumnus of the University of Auckland. He has worked at several high-tech New Zealand companies, and is keen on ensuring that we continue building an innovative, high-wage economy that works for everyone.
Oscar has been a hard-working local community advocate, including as a member of the committee of the City Centre Residents’ Group and as the spokesperson for a housing advocacy organisation. As a young renter himself, he knows that Labour’s work to deliver more affordable housing, better wages and better public transport will make a difference for local people and help bring down carbon emissions.
As a local voice in a Chris Hipkins-led Labour government, Oscar will focus on making Auckland Central an even more vibrant place to live and work, with advocacy on community safety in our City Centre, environmental protection of the Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana, and renters’ rights.
When he’s not out in the community, Oscar enjoys running and swimming, and he is an avid sports fan, particularly of our national cricket teams.
