Restore the First Home Grant

We all want New Zealand to be a country where everyone gets the chance to own their own home.

But the National Government is killing the Kiwi dream of home ownership.

National is scrapping the First Home Grant, which paid up to $10,000 per person for people buying their first home.

It means fewer Kiwis owning more homes, and more people renting. National also wants to bring back no-cause evictions, making life even more uncertain for tenants.

The National Government found billions for landlord tax cuts but has turned its back on those renting. It wants to place the nation’s housing into the hands of a wealthy few, shutting a generation out of home ownership in the process.
