Taxpayers paying for more spin

Taxpayers are forking out millions more for Government spin than they were just three years ago, Labour’s State Services spokesman Kris Faafoi says.

“The bill for public relations and communications staff by Government departments has risen $6 million in the past four years.

“This Government is prioritising funding for spin as it drags the chain on important spending such surgery and special education.

“Figures released under the Annual Review process show out of 23 departments who responded, 18 increased their spending on communications.

“National is obsessed with spin. The only guarantee in this story is they will try and spin this as good news,” Kris Faafoi says.
