Supporters of National’s Easter Trading Bill are pushing for more gambling, more booze and less time with family says Labour’s Workplace Relations spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway.
“Not satisfied with stealing family time from workers on Easter Sunday, hospitality and retail sector lobbyists today told a Parliamentary select committee they want more access to pokies and more booze to be sold on that day as well.
“And they’re not stopping at Easter Sunday. The only other two-and-a-half days of public holidays we can devote solely to our families – Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac days – are also under attack.
“Hospitality and retail workers deserve to have time with their families too. Long hours, low wages and insecure work hours already put enormous pressure on working families. They need more time together, not less.
“It’s time for National MPs to find their consciences and vote against this anti-family legislation,” says Iain Lees-Galloway.
