A Samoan-born kiwi, Lotu has proudly called Otara home since 1976. She schooled locally before graduating from the University of Auckland with a MA(Hons), MALT(Hons) and MLitt(Hons). Lotu was a Secondary School teacher in Auckland, South Korea and Japan before she returned to university to study Law. She juggled her studies with working fulltime and her family life and graduated with a prestigious LLB Honours. Lotu was a Teaching Fellow at the law school for 2017 and 2018. She is currently serving as a judicial officer with the Disputes Tribunal and still tutors Part 1 Law at law school.Read more
Lotu has extensive governance experience as an elected member of the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board of Auckland Council since 2013. She has been the Chairperson of the board since 2016. Lotu is a passionate advocate for better outcomes for her community. She is proud of the many initiatives she and her board members have championed.
