"I’m fighting for a simple idea: that in New Zealand, the price you pay should be fair, and the system should work for you, not the big players. Together, we can take on the cost of living crisis and build an economy that puts people first.”
I’m Arena Williams, I represent one of the youngest, most diverse communities in the country, Manurewa. South Auckland working families who keep New Zealand moving, but too often feel the system isn’t working for them.
Right now, the cost of living is hitting hard. Groceries, power, rent, and mortgages are stretching households to the limit. Too often, that’s because markets aren’t working, with too little competition and too much power in the hands of a few big players.
My focus is straightforward. Make markets work for people. That means taking on monopolies and duopolies, opening up competition, and making sure consumers, not corporations, set the terms. Whether it’s groceries, banking, or fuel, success should be measured by one thing: are prices coming down for ordinary people?
But change doesn’t come from Parliament alone. It comes from people.
This is a people powered campaign. If you believe hard work should lead to security, and that everyone deserves a fair shot, then get involved.
