"Aotearoa New Zealand should be a place where people can realise their dreams. My dream is that I leave the world a better place for my daughter and all tamariki across the country.
I grew up in Pakuranga, in a house that became a home for anyone who needed a helping hand. My parents instilled this value in me, to support others when they need it most.
I started in the social services by studying counselling at the Manukau Institute of Technology. Then I moved into social work and found my passion. After graduating, I became a statutory social worker in South and East Auckland, gaining invaluable experience in front line services.
I’ve worked alongside multiple government agencies, including the New Zealand Police, Department of Corrections, Ministry of Social Development, and Te Whatu Ora. I've since gained a Master of Public Policy from the University of Auckland and worked as a policy analyst.
Now I'm back as a social worker, practising primarily with youth offenders in South and East Auckland. I'm grateful for the privilege of being allowed into these tapu spaces when whānau are often at their most vulnerable.
I see the impact of the current government's decisions, tearing through the social safety net created by our forefathers and eroding New Zealand's place in the world.
That's why I am standing for the New Zealand Labour Party in this election. I know that by focusing on the pillars of New Zealand’s social contract - jobs, health, and homes - New Zealand can thrive and continue to be the best place in the world to raise a family.
Thank you for all the support so far and reach out if you want to lend a hand volunteering!
