"I have had the privilege of caring for people of all ages during their hardest and most vulnerable days and now I am ready to use my experience to serve our community as your representative in Parliament.
I believe the Napier electorate is the best place to live in New Zealand and I am proud to call it my home - alongside my fiancé Alby and our retired greyhound, Beau.
After attending Napier Boys' High School, I became the first in my family to attend university, studying Biomedical Sciences and Medicine.
Once I started work as a doctor, it was a priority for me to return to Hawke’s Bay to work in our community. I worked in General Surgery and Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery as a Resident Medical Officer before entering Public Health Medicine specialist training.
Alongside my clinical work, I spent six years on the National Executive of the Resident Doctors’ Association, New Zealand’s largest junior doctor union, including three years as Vice President. During that time, I was also heavily involved in contract negotiations and member advocacy.
I have seen choices made by the current National-led coalition make life tougher across the Napier electorate. Since 2023, unemployment has increased by 78% in Hawke’s Bay, faster than anywhere else in the country. We have a rising homeless population while social housing projects have been axed. Our health system is struggling; in Napier, it’s difficult to find a GP, and in Wairoa, there is no permanent dentist or aged care facility. It’s not right, and doesn’t have to be this way.
Labour is focused on the things that make a difference to everyone: jobs, homes, health, and real action on the cost of living. I am ready to be part of a Labour team that delivers a better direction for our community and for New Zealand.
