Fisher Wang

Candidate for Rotorua

Meet Fisher Wang

Ko te manaakitanga te aronga o taku ara. People before politics.

People before politics means listening to our community, respecting every voice, and working together to build a vibrant future for Rotorua - where people can see opportunity at home, get ahead, and live with dignity, safety, and hope.

Rotorua is a community built on hard work, resilience, and people looking out for one another. It deserves a representative who carries those same values into Parliament.

Fisher Wang was born and raised in Rotorua, growing up on a farm in Kaharoa and attending school locally. Rotorua is not simply where he grew up; it is part of who he is. The values formed during his childhood still guide him today: work hard, show up, listen well, and always look out for others.

Fisher was first elected to the Rotorua Lakes Council in 2019, becoming the youngest elected Councillor in the district's history, and the highest polling in 2022 and 2025. He has built his reputation through years of working alongside the community, listening, and following through on what he says he will do.

With his ongoing commitment to the community, he serves across a range of community and governance roles in youth development & health, local initiatives, and supporting opportunities in sustainability, arts, sport, culture, and employment.

He is known for bringing people together, working across different perspectives to deliver the best outcome for Rotorua. He focuses on building consensus and bringing people together, on outcomes rather than political point-scoring. Fisher's priorities include a vibrant local economy, better housing, accessible healthcare, decent local jobs, action on the cost of living, and long-term investment and infrastructure, health, and education.

Fisher believes Rotorua's best days are ahead and he is standing for Parliament to ensure our region has a strong voice, secure the investment it deserves, and has every opportunity to thrive.

Fisher is standing for Labour because he believes New Zealand succeeds when we invest in people, strengthen our regions, and create opportunities for future generations. Above all, he is standing for the people of Rotorua.
