Matt Brachi

Candidate for Port Waikato

Meet Matt Brachi

"I want a New Zealand where people can achieve their dreams, have meaningful work, live comfortably, and access a good quality of life.

"I'm extremely proud to have been selected to stand for Labour in Port Waikato. This area has some of the most fertile growing land in New Zealand and is crucial for our country’s food production. In the past decade there has also been immense growth and a changing demographic with more and more young families making this wonderful location their home.

Matt lives locally with his family. He's passionate about creating change and opportunities for all New Zealanders, particularly for our young people.

Matt has worked in the fuel industry, in national newspaper advertising, and as an operations manager in the technology media sector. He's also been a special effects artist for film and television.

Since retraining as a teacher 13 years ago, he has brought his wide range of skills and experience to benefit young people in South Auckland across primary, intermediate and secondary schools. Matt serves on a local school board and brings a wide understanding of the factors impacting education and student achievement.

“My personal values are founded in equality, co-operation and opportunity for all. I believe hard work should be rewarded and people should be able to get ahead.

"I also believe in the social contract, that as a society we need to look after each other, especially the most vulnerable amongst us. We need to live in a society where we treat each other with compassion and dignity.

"I'll be a voice for the people, businesses and industries that call Port Waikato home.
