Matthew Flight was a district councillor on the Marlborough District Council from 2022-2025.

Matt has been the sole trader of Marlborough Appliance Repair Specialist since 2023.

“Running my business over the last three years has given me the opportunity to meet, listen to, and work alongside so many different people.

“What I’m hearing from them is that it’s very hard to find good jobs that keep them here in Kaikōura. With the cost of living so high, much of their income is going on rent or mortgages.

Matt has lived in Blenheim for 22 years and has coached, trained, and been part of many sports clubs. He is married to Dallas and they have two sons. He grew up in Manawatu and Wairarapa with parents who were share milkers on government farms.
