"The Southland electorate makes a substantial contribution to New Zealand’s economy, yet this government is not providing us with adequate services. Infrastructure deficits remain unaddressed, councils are blamed, underfunded and overstretched, and housing access and affordability continues to worsen.

"At the same time, there is huge pressure on farmers and exporters. While concerns are acknowledged at a national level, the practical follow through and workable solutions have been lacking. The current government is exposing farming by undoing the hard won environmental gains that farmers have made.

Peter brings long standing engagement with farming families and rural communities and a clear understanding of the pressures they face. His work across farming, environmental, and conservation issues is grounded in balance, clarity, and practical outcomes rather than rhetoric.

A 30 year volunteer firefighter, Peter has also provided peer support to fellow volunteers. This experience has shaped a leadership style built on calm decision making.

Peter has consistently advocated for Southland, with a clear view that government funded services must match the need of the people of Southland.
