"I want Nelson to be a place of opportunity for our young people, with decent jobs, education, health and housing for everyone who lives here.
First elected to Parliament in 2020, Rachel Boyack is the Labour MP for Nelson. She is Labour’s spokesperson for Arts, Culture and Heritage, Animal Welfare, and Oceans and Fisheries.
Rachel’s priorities and values are shaped by a lifetime of community advocacy. Before entering Parliament, she worked as a union organiser, helping improve wages and conditions for workers across the Nelson region, giving her a practical understanding of the issues facing working people, families, and businesses.
Her commitment to Nelson extends beyond politics. Rachel has served on the boards of the Nelson Environment Centre and Nelson Women’s and Children’s Refuge, reflecting her dedication to supporting people, strengthening communities, and protecting the environment.
As Nelson’s local MP, Rachel is focused on improving access to healthcare, creating good jobs, tackling the housing challenge, and ensuring Nelson remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Rachel lives in Nelson with her husband and is proud to call the region home. She is passionate about building a stronger future for the community she loves.
