"I want to help build an Aotearoa where every young person has the support, confidence, and opportunities they need to realise their aspirations to the full.
Right now, too many people across Aotearoa are feeling the pressure of a government that is not supporting them to thrive: rising costs, limited opportunities, and young people wondering whether they have a future here in New Zealand. Rhieve believes politics should offer hope, practical solutions, and a clear sense of direction, and he's ready to fight for that.
Rhieve Grey (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Raukawa, Te Arawa) has spent his career in service to people and communities. He works alongside young people, whānau, and Māori organisations across education, youth development, housing, and governance.
Rhieve is a Rhodes Scholar with postgraduate degrees from the University of Oxford in Public Policy and Evidence-Based Policy. He brings world-class expertise, grounded in lived experience.
He co-founded the History of Aotearoa Charitable Trust (HĀ), creating safe spaces for tamariki and rangatahi to learn their history. He serves as Associate Director of Tupu Angitū, the commercial arm of Lake Taupō Forest Trust. He was one of the New Zealanders selected by the Prime Minister's Office to represent Aotearoa at the coronation of King Charles III.
Rhieve wants Mount Maunganui to be a place where every person is seen and supported, and where working people are honoured. As a new father, he's driven to shape the kind of country he wants his son to grow up in, one that sees the promise in every person.
Rhieve knows that trust is earned, not announced. He will be a visible, hard-working local MP: staying connected to the community and listening before leading.
